Cut heat and glare without losing the view

When a room bakes every afternoon or you can’t see your screen for the glare, solar window film is usually the fix. It rejects a large share of the sun’s heat and the glare that comes with it, evens out hot and cold spots between rooms, and stays nearly invisible on the glass — so you keep the view and the daylight.

What solar film controls

  • Solar heat gain — the main reason sun-facing rooms overheat
  • Glare on screens, monitors, and glossy surfaces
  • UV exposure — roughly 99% blocked, protecting floors, furniture, and merchandise from fading
  • Hot-and-cold imbalance between sunny and shaded rooms

Where it works best

  • West- and south-facing rooms that overheat in summer
  • Home offices and living rooms with large windows
  • Stairwells and high glass that trap heat
  • Condos with floor-to-ceiling glazing
  • Commercial spaces where staff or customers sit in direct sun
  • Any room where the blinds are always shut because of heat or glare

Calgary sun is a specific problem

Our long summer days and low evening sun hit west-facing glass hard, and chinook-bright winter afternoons add glare even when it’s cold out. Solar film is one of the few upgrades that helps with both heat and fading without darkening the room.

What to keep in mind

Solar film reduces heat and glare — it doesn’t turn a hard-to-cool room into a perfectly conditioned one. Window size, exposure, glass type, shade, and your HVAC all play a part, and some sealed glass units need a compatibility review before solar film goes on. We check that up front so the result matches what you’re expecting.
